Claims and consumer law

A fair hearing against bigger players.

When a fund, an insurer or a supplier will not deal with you fairly, we make sure your claim is properly made and properly heard.

Our approach

Funds, insurers and suppliers deal with claims every day. Most individuals do not. We even the table: we set out your claim clearly, deal with the other side directly, mediate where possible and litigate where necessary.

Claims and consumer law

What we handle.

  1. 01

    Road Accident Fund claims

Claims for injuries, loss of earnings and loss of support after a road accident, under the Road Accident Fund Act 56 of 1996.

  2. 02

    Insurance claims

Disputes with insurers over claims that were rejected, delayed or under-settled.

  3. 03

    Pension and provident funds

Unpaid or delayed benefits, incorrect calculations and withheld payouts, including complaints under the Pension Funds Act 24 of 1956.

  4. 04

    Consumer and product disputes

Defective goods, unfair terms and suppliers who will not honour an agreement, with reference to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

  5. 05

    Contracts

Agreements drafted or reviewed before you sign, and disputes when the other side does not keep to the terms.

  6. 06

    Civil mediation

Any other dispute that two parties would rather settle than litigate: between neighbours, business partners, community members or family.

Mediation first

Why mediation works here.

We start at the table because, in these matters, it usually gives the better result.

  • Your claim, clearly made

A well-prepared claim is harder to ignore and quicker to settle.

  • Someone who knows the process

Funds, insurers and the Road Accident Fund have their own procedures. We know how to work through them.

  • Court when necessary

If the other side will talk, we negotiate. If not, we take the matter further.
